Vaseline is a renowned American brand, owned by Unilever, that specialises in petroleum jelly-based products. The brand was introduced in 1872 and has since become a household name worldwide. Vaseline's product line includes not only the classic petroleum jelly but also a variety of skin creams, soaps, lotions, cleansers, and deodorants.
More about Vaseline
The brand's origins trace back to 1859 when chemist Robert Chesebrough travelled to the oil fields in Titusville, Pennsylvania. There, he discovered a residue called rod wax that oil workers used to heal cuts and burns. Chesebrough took this knowledge back to Brooklyn, extracted the usable petroleum jelly, and began manufacturing a medicinal product he named Vaseline.
Vaseline's skin care range is particularly popular for its moisturising properties. The products work by acting as an occlusive agent, preventing the evaporation of water from the skin and sealing out external water. This makes them effective for managing dry skin conditions such as atopic dermatitis and eczema.
The products are designed to provide moisture and protection for the skin, making them a valuable addition to any skin care routine.
