What is Mounjaro?
Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) is a prescription-only, pre-filled injection pen designed to support substantial and sustainable weight loss, manufactured by Eli Lilly. Mounjaro works by targeting specific pathways in the brain to help you feel fuller for longer and reduce cravings. When used alongside a calorie-controlled diet and increased physical activity, Mounjaro has been shown to promote significant weight loss beyond what diet and exercise alone can achieve.
How do I use Mounjaro?
Each Mounjaro pen is pre-filled and has a twisting top that once extended all the way will display the number one and expose a small needle. This needle is to be injected subcutaneously once per week for 4 weeks (28 days). This injection should be applied on the same day each week, at roughly the same time of day for maximum effect. Our pharmacy team will also be able to answer any questions you have about the application method during your phone consultation.
Is Mounjaro suitable for me?
Mounjaro is intended for adults aged 18 to 74 with a BMI of 30 kg/m² or higher, who have not achieved meaningful weight loss through supervised diet, behaviour changes, and increased physical activity. or BMI of 27 kg/m² or higher with at least one weight-related health condition, such as:High blood pressure (hypertension),High cholesterol (dyslipidaemia), Obstructive sleep apnoea,Type 2 diabetes
How should I store Mounjaro?
Store in a refrigerator (2 °C – 8 °C). Do not freeze. Store in original package to protect from light. Mounjaro may be stored unrefrigerated for up to 21 cumulative days at a temperature not above 30 °C and then the pre-filled pen must be discarded.
How should I dispose of Mounjaro?
We provide a sharps bin with every purchase. After each use, dispose of the needle in the sharps bin. Once all four doses have been applied and the needles have been disposed in the sharps bin, the pen can be disposed of in the sharps bin or household waste.
Once the sharps bin is full it can be collected by your local council.
