Description
Acnecide Face Gel Spot Treatment, a trusty ally in the fight against mild facial acne, includes both blackheads and whiteheads, also known as comedones. Housing an active ingredient, Benzoyl Peroxide at a concentration of 5%, it functions as a strong contender against spot-causing bacteria, eliminating up to 95% of these unwelcome intruders.
Along with its potent antibacterial properties, this product innovatively employs microsphere technology. This enables it to act like a sponge, soaking up excess oil that often contributes to acne. When you first use Acnecide Face Gel apply the gel once daily on alternate days, in the evening before going to bed.

If this causes more skin symptoms (burning, irritation, redness, peeling) then you should go back to using Acnecide Face Gel only once a day. If your skin becomes or remains more severely irritated after stopping, you should speak to your doctor.
Warnings
Do not use this product with other acne treatments and benzoyl peroxide products, unless advised by your doctor.
This product may bleach hair and coloured fabrics including clothing, towels and bed linen. Be careful to avoid contact of the gel with these materials. Make sure to wash your hands thoroughly and rinse surfaces (e.g. the sink) after you have used it.
Avoid the use of skin care products with exfoliating acids/ingredients (eg AHA’s, BHA’s Retinol etc.) or physical scrubs at the same time as using Acnecide treatments. Benzoyl peroxide already provides an exfoliant effect.
If your acne gets worse while using an Acnecide treatment or if it does not improve within 12 weeks, it is important to see your pharmacist or doctor for advice. Undertreatment of some forms of acne may sometimes result in scarring. Your pharmacist or doctor will be able to recommend an alternative treatment to manage your acne.
If you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, planning to have a baby or breastfeeding, consult your doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine.
Try to avoid exposure to strong sunlight whilst using Acnecide treatments. If exposure is unavoidable, use suitable sunscreen and apply the treatment in the evening.
Some initial mild sensitivity is common when starting with benzoyl peroxide treatments, as your skin needs to build a tolerance to it over time. Follow the advice in the leaflet for how to start using Acnecide treatments. However if your skin becomes severely irritated, or severe redness, itching or peeling of the skin occurs, discontinue use immediately and consult your pharmacist or doctor.
