Description
Adex Gel is a highly moisturising and protective skin emollient that contains an additional anti-inflammatory substance in the form of nicotinamide. It is used for the treatment and routine management of dry and inflamed skin conditions such as mild to moderate atopic dermatitis, eczema, contact dermatitis, and psoriasis.
Key features:
- Dual-action emollient gel
- Highly moisturizing, contains 30% oils
- Ancillary anti-inflammatory with nicotinamide (4%)
- Effective for dry skin conditions with inflammation
- Recommended for long-term use
- Can be used all over the body, including the face
- Suitable for adults and children over 1 year.
How does Adex Gel work?
Adex Gel works as an emollient, which creates a protective barrier over the skin when applied. This barrier helps to lock in moisture, providing hydration to the skin, and protecting it from irritants and further inflammation.
Who can use Adex Gel?
Adex Gel is suitable for adults, the elderly, and children over 1 year of age.
Is Adex Gel safe for pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers?
While vitamin B derivative requirements, such as nicotinamide, are increased during pregnancy and infancy, safety trials have not been conducted during pregnancy and breastfeeding. With prolonged use over significant areas, it may be possible to exceed the recommended levels of nicotinamide during pregnancy. Therefore, caution should be exercised, particularly in the first three months of pregnancy. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using Adex Gel.
What should I do if I accidentally swallow Adex Gel?
If Adex Gel is accidentally swallowed, its oily ingredients may cause diarrhoea. Treat the symptoms as you would in any case of diarrhoea and drink plenty of water. Do not attempt to cause vomiting.
What makes Adex Gel different from other emollient treatments?
Adex Gel's primary emollient action is supplemented with an added anti-inflammatory action provided by nicotinamide (a form of Vitamin B3) to reduce inflammation and redness. This makes Adex Gel a unique and convenient approach to treating dry skin conditions prone to inflammation.
Is Adex Gel suitable for all skin types?
Adex Gel is developed for dry skin conditions prone to inflammation, such as mild to moderate eczema and psoriasis. It is suitable for frequent and regular application and can be used all over the body, including on the face and in creases of the skin.
Does Adex Gel contain any topical corticosteroids?
No, Adex Gel does not contain any topical corticosteroids.
Is Adex Gel easily absorbed by the skin?
Yes, Adex Gel is easily absorbed by the skin and offers a highly moisturizing action. Its formulation contains a high level of oils (30%) and the humectant glycerol, making it easy to absorb and highly moisturizing.
How does Adex Gel reduce inflammation and redness?
Adex Gel's ancillary anti-inflammatory action is provided by nicotinamide (4%), a medicinal substance which is a form of Vitamin B3. This helps to reduce inflammation and redness in dry skin conditions prone to inflammation.
Ingredients
Carbomer, Glycerol, Isopropyl Myristate, Liquid Paraffin, Nicotinamide, Phenoxyethanol, Sorbitan Laurate, Trolamine and Purified Water.
Usage and Instructions
Gently smooth Adex Gel over and around all dry and/or inflamed skin areas. For best results, use a few gentle strokes to smooth the gel across the skin in the same direction as hair growth. If necessary, allow time for any excess to soak in. Do not rub the skin vigorously.
If you are using other topically applied products, any instructions supplied with the other product should be followed to allow adequate time for absorption before applying Adex Gel. The time allowed should normally be around 30 minutes for topical corticosteroids and up to 2 hours for certain calcineurin inhibitors. This is to avoid diluting the other product and spreading it to areas that do not need it.
Carry on using Adex Gel for as long as necessary – whether that may be only occasionally, e.g. during flares, or continuously if the added anti-inflammatory action is beneficial. If there is no improvement within 2 to 4 weeks, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.
How often can I use Adex Gel?
