Alphosyl 2 in 1 Shampoo is used to treat scalp conditions such as psoriasis, seborrhoeic dermatitis, eczema, itchiness and scaling due to these conditions and dandruff.
The active ingredient in Alphosyl 2-in-1 Medicated Shampoo is an alcoholic extract of coal tar which relieves itching and is an anti-scaling agent which helps breakdown keratin (part of the skin's structure).
Suitable for adults and children above 12 years.
Alphosyl shampoo should not be used in children under the age of 12 unless you are told to do so by your doctor.
What causes dandruff?
Dandruff is a common skin condition that lots of people experience at one point or another. When you have dandruff, the skin on your scalp becomes itchy and dry, and as your dry skin flakes away you may notice white or grey flecks of it in your hair.
Ingredients
Active ingredient: 5% w/w alcoholic extract of Coal Tar.
Other ingredients: Sodium lauryl sulphate, ammonium lauryl sulphate, lauramide DEA, herbal fragrance 41.423, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose 2910, citrics acid nhydrous, guarhydroxypropyltrimonium chloride, patent blue V (E 131), propylhydroxybenzoate (E 216), methylhydroxybenzoate (E 218), water.
Usage and Instructions
Children and adults: Use Alphosyl 2 in 1 Shampoo once or twice a week for four weeks.
Wet hair thoroughly.
Use enough shampoo so that the lather is sufficent to cover your scalp and adjacent areas, if also affected.
Massage the scalp and adjacent areas, if needed, well using your fingertips.
Rinse your heair thoroughly.
Repeat steps 2 to 4.
Alphosyl 2 in 1 Shampoo should be in contact with your scalp for a total time of three to five minutes over the two applications.
Warnings
Do not use Alphosyl 2 in 1 Shampoo:
if you have ever had an allergic reaction to coal tar or any of the other ingredients (listed on the side of this carton). to treat infected, open or damaged skin. to treat sore or acute pustular psoriasis (skin redness covered by pus filled blisters).
Keep all medicines out of the reach and sight of children.
Do not use this medicine after ‘EXP’ date shown on the carton
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Alphosyl 2 in 1 Shampoo if you are pregnant, thinking of becoming pregnant or are breast feeding. If you do breast-feed, ensure you wash-off all traces of shampoo.
Side Effects
Like all medications, Alphosyl shampoo can have side effects, although not everyone will experience them. If you experience any of the following side effects while using this product, you may be having an allergic reaction and should stop use and seek medical assistance immediately:
Raised, itchy skin rash or hives Swelling of the face, mouth, tongue, or throat Wheezing Difficulty breathing Other side effects include:
Unusual hair loss or hair thinning Change in hair texture Change in hair colour Eye irritation Eczema Sensitivity to sunlight Skin irritation, e.g. itching, redness, dryness, burning sensation Skin pain, rash, or swelling If you experience these or any other side effects while using this product, stop use and speak to your doctor or pharmacist as soon as possible.
