Description
A night-time cold and flu medicine formulated to provide relief from the major symptoms of cold and flu where a dry cough is present, allowing for a restful night's sleep.
Ingredients
Active Ingredients in 20ml: 1000mg paracetamol, 20mg promethazine hydrochloride, 15mg dextromethorphan hydrobromide.
Other ingredients: ethanol, propylene glycol, liquid maltitol (hydrogenated glucose syrup), sodium citrate, ascorbic acid, acesulfame k, citric acid monohydrate, natural mint flavour, patent blue v (E131), quinoline yellow (E104), purified water.
Usage and Instructions
Always read the label.
For oral use. To be taken at bedtime. Shake the bottle before use
Maximum daily dose: Only one dose should be taken per night.
Do not exceed the stated dose
Should not be used with other cough or cold medicines, or any other antihistamine-containing products, including those used on the skin.
Adults and children aged 16 years and over:
One measured 20 ml dose to be taken just before going to bed.
Children aged 12 to 15 years:
A 10 ml to 15 ml dose to be taken just before going to bed.
Not to be given to children under 12 years.
Elderly:
The normal adult dose can be used.
Maximum duration of continued use without medical advice: 3 days.
Warnings
- Seek medical advice for:
- Chronic or persistent cough (e.g., asthma, emphysema).
- Epilepsy.
- Narrow-angle glaucoma, urinary retention, prostatic hypertrophy, cardiovascular problems.
- Caution with paracetamol and flucloxacillin due to risk of high anion gap metabolic acidosis (HAGMA), especially in renal impairment or glutathione deficiency.
- Elderly: Increased risk of anticholinergic side effects (e.g., confusion).
- Children: Risk of paradoxical excitation with sedating antihistamines.
- Caution in hepatic impairment (risk of paracetamol-related liver damage).
- Avoid taking other cough and cold medicines, alcohol, or CNS depressants while using.
- Not for patients with hereditary fructose intolerance.
- Increased overdose risk in non-cirrhotic alcoholic liver disease.
- Do not exceed the recommended dose; use the supplied measuring cup.
- Warning: May cause drowsiness; avoid driving or operating machinery.
- Keep medicines out of children’s reach.
- Avoid alcohol during use.
Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to paracetamol, dextromethorphan, promethazine, or excipients.
- Hepatic or renal impairment.
- Risk of or current respiratory failure (e.g., COPD, pneumonia, asthma attacks).
- Recent use of monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) within two weeks.
- Concurrent use with serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs).
- Not suitable for children under 12 years old.
