Galpharm antihistamine tablets provide relief from the symptoms of hay fever and other airborne allergies. Galpharm Hay fever and Allergy Relief tablets can also be taken for skin allergies such as rash, itching, and urticaria (hives). The active ingredient in Galpharm antihistamine is Cetirizine, which is known as a non-drowsy antihistamine. It's much less likely to make you feel sleepy than some other antihistamines.

Giving you relief for up to 24 hours, Galpharm Hay fever and Allergy Relief tablets help to soothe common hay fever symptoms: such as itchy or watery eyes, sneezing and a runny nose. These long-lasting hay fever tablets also stop symptoms from other allergies e.g. pet, house dust mite and mould spore allergies.

What is an allergy?

An allergy is a disorder of the immune system which causes an exaggerated response within the body when you come into contact with a foreign substance – one that would be harmless for most people. The contact can be with your skin, mouth, gullet (oesophagus), stomach, intestine or with the lining of your lungs. Substances in the environment that cause the response are known as allergens, and someone who suffers a response to a particular allergen is said to be allergic to it. If you’re allergic to a particular allergen, you may suffer from a mild cough or a sneeze attack – but for others the symptoms can be much more severe and can even lead to death. Almost any substance can be an allergen for someone.

Allergies are generally the body’s way of eliminating something it considers unsuitable. Allergies are responsible for many illnesses, especially in young children. If you think you have an allergy, you must contact your doctor. Taking Galpharm Cetirizine Hydrochloride can also help to relieve the symptoms of these allergies.

Ingredients

The active ingredient is: 10mg of Cetirizine hydrochloride per tablet.

The other ingredients are: Lactose, microcrystalline cellulose, colloidal anhydrous silica, magnesium stearate, hypromellose (E464), macrogol, titanium dioxide (E171) and polydextrose.

Usage and Instructions

Adults and children aged 12 years and over:

Adults and children over 12 years old should take one Galpharm Cetirizine and Hydrochloride tablet once a day to relieve hay fever and other allergy symptoms.

Children aged 6 to 12 years:

The dosage of Galpharm Cetrizine for children between the ages of 6 and 12 years is half a tablet twice a day.

Children under 6 years:

Galpharm Antihistamine is not recommended for children under 6 years of age. See the enclosed leaflet for further advice.

Warnings

Do not exceed the stated dose when taking Galpharm Hay fever and Allergy Relief Cetirizine Hydrochloride. If symptoms persist whilst taking this medication, consult your doctor.

Do not use Galpharm Cetirizine tablets after the expiry date shown and please read the enclosed leaflet before use.

These tablets should always be kept out of sight and reach of children.

Will taking Galpharm Cetirizine and Hydrochloride tablets make you drowsy?

Galpharm antihistamine tablets do not cause drowsiness in most people. However, as with other antihistamines, rare cases of drowsiness have been reported. If affected do not drive or operate machinery. As with all antihistamines, you should avoid excessive alcohol consumption when taking this medicine.

Can you take Galpharm Cetirizine and Hydrochloride tablets when pregnant or breastfeeding?

Galpharm antihistamines are not recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women. You should consult your doctor before taking Galpharm Hay fever and Allergy Relief tablets if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Side Effects

Like all medication, Galpharm Hay fever and Allergy Relief Cetirizine Hydrochloride tablets may cause mild side effects in some people, such as drowsiness. See the enclosed leaflet for the common side effects of Galpharm cetirizine tablets.

Very rarely, Galpharm cetirizine tablets may cause convulsions. If this happens to you, stop taking these tablets and tell your doctor. If you notice any side effects not mentioned in the leaflet, please inform your doctor or pharmacist.
