How does Gaviscon Advance Aniseed Suspension work?
The suspension acts by creating a floating protective barrier over stomach contents, curtailing reflux and preventing stomach acid from affecting the food pipe lining. This protection is a result of the sodium alginate and potassium hydrogen carbonate present in the suspension.
Are there any known side effects?
Generally, Gaviscon Advance Aniseed Suspension is well accepted. However, it contains methyl (E218) and propyl (E216) parahydroxybenzoates which might trigger allergic responses in a few. Consuming in high quantities might lead to a sense of abdominal bloating, but normally the management is just symptomatic and supportive.
How long does it take for Gaviscon Advance Aniseed Suspension to take effect?
Many users of Gaviscon Advance Aniseed Suspension experience symptom relief in as short as 3 to 4 minutes.
Can I combine Gaviscon Advance Aniseed Suspension with other medications?
When taking Gaviscon, it's advisable to wait for a 2-hour gap before consuming other medicines, especially those like tetracyclines, fluoroquinolones, iron salts, thyroid hormones, chloroquine, bisphosphonates, and estramustine.
Please read the information leaflet before starting the treatment.
