Why is Gaviscon hard to buy?
If there is a shortage of Gaviscon, it could be due to the scarcity of the seaweed species used to produce medical-grade sodium alginate, a key ingredient in Gaviscon. Poor weather conditions and low harvest yields of the seaweed can contribute to the shortage of this essential component.
Ingredients
Active Ingredients: Each 10ml of Oral Suspension contains 500mg Sodium Alginate Ph Eur, 267mg Sodium Bicarbonate Ph Eur and 160mg Calcium Carbonate Ph Eur
Other Ingredients: Carbomer, Methyl (E218) and Propyl (E216) Parahydroxybenzoates, Sodium Saccharin, Sodium Hydroxide, Peppermint Oil and Water.
Usage and Instructions
Take 10 – 20ml (up to four 5ml spoonfuls) of Gaviscon Original after meals and before bedtime, up to four times a day.
Do not take more than 80ml a day.
If your symptoms don’t improve after 7 days, speak to your doctor.
