What are some causes of dry eyes?

Furthermore, diseases like Sjogren's syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, and collagen vascular diseases that affect tear production, as well as problems with eyelid closure, can be underlying causes of dry eyes.

What is the active ingredient and how does it work?

Hylo-dual contains two active ingredients: sodium hyaluronate and ectoin. Sodium hyaluronate provides even, stable, and long-lasting lubrication to the surface of the eye, while ectoin stabilizes the lipid layer of the tear film that protects against excessive evaporation of tears. The interaction of sodium hyaluronate and ectoin provides intensive long-lasting lubrication of the ocular surface and protects against evaporation of tears. Additionally, ectoin increases the binding of water at the cells of the ocular surface, forming a physiologic barrier on the conjunctiva against allergenic acting substances, relieving the typical symptoms of itching and burning that occur as inflammatory reactions to environmentally triggered irritations as well as to allergic reactions.

To prime the system, remove the over cap and invert the Hylo-dual bottle with its tip pointing down. Press firmly on the base and release several times until the first drop is released. Hold the bottle with the tip pointing down and place one drop into the conjunctival sac of each eye. Repeat as necessary, allowing the fluid to spread evenly over the eye surface. Hylo-dual can be used for up to 6 months after opening and should not be shared with others.
