How do Optase Comfort Drops work?
The surface of the eye is covered by a thin layer of tears, called the tear film, which protects, nourishes and lubricates the eye. Contact lenses can irritate and damage the tear film, which can lead to dry, red, and irritated eyes. Optase Comfort Drops help reduce friction between the contact lens and the tear film to provide comfort for contact lens wearers.
What is the active ingredient in Optase Comfort Drops and how does it work?
The active ingredient in Optase Comfort Drops is 0.1% sodium hyaluronate, a naturally occurring substance that acts as a moisturiser. When applied to the eye, sodium hyaluronate helps to ease the friction between the contact lens and the tear film, thereby reducing symptoms of contact lens discomfort and ensuring comfort for contact lens wearers.
How do I use Optase Comfort Drops?
Tear off the single-dose unit (SDU) from the pack, bend your head backward, pull the lower eyelid downwards with your forefinger to gently squeeze the SDU and let 1-2 drops fall into the eye. Alternatively, you can insert the drop into the contact lens before inserting it into the eye. You can use these eye drops as often as you need.
Are Optase Comfort Drops compatible with contact lenses?
Yes, Optase Comfort Drops is contact lens compatible.
What are some symptoms of contact lens discomfort?
Symptoms may include stinging, itching, gritty or burning sensations in and around the eye, sensitivity to light, eye redness, excessive watering, eye dryness, or feeling as though there’s a foreign object in the eye.
Why can wearing contact lenses cause discomfort?
Contact lenses can cause discomfort due to debris transfer onto the lenses, environmental or seasonal allergies, and incorrect lens fit.
How do Optase Comfort Drops treat contact lens discomfort?
Not only do these drops lubricate the eyes but also hydrate the lenses, making wearing contacts more comfortable, they also help in clearing out any debris or residue that may be present under the lenses, ensuring better vision and eye health.
