What's the difference between Reishi, Shiitake and Maitake mushrooms?

Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) is native to Asia, including China, Korea and Japan, and has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years. Shiitake (Lentinus edodes) is a popular food in Asia and one of the most widely cultivated mushroom varieties. Maitake (Grifola frondosa) is native to the mountains of Japan; its Japanese name translates as 'dancing mushroom'.

What does an "8:1" or "4:1" extract ratio mean?

An extract ratio shows how much raw mushroom was used to make the extract. An 8:1 ratio means 8kg of raw Shiitake mushroom was used to produce 1kg of extract, and a 4:1 ratio means 4kg of raw Maitake mushroom produced 1kg of extract, so a small capsule can represent a larger amount of the original mushroom.

Is this supplement suitable for vegans?

Yes. It's made with a vegetable capsule shell (hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose) instead of gelatine, and the other ingredients, microcrystalline cellulose and vegetable magnesium stearate, are plant-derived.
