It works as an anaesthetic to quickly numb throat pain and an antibiotic to help fight throat infection. It may be used by adults and children over 3 years.

Ingredients

Active ingredients: Benzocaine 5mg and Tyrothricin 1mg

Usage and Instructions

Adults and children aged 3 years and over:

Dissolve one lozenge slowly in the mouth and repeat every three hours.

Adults must not take more than 8 lozenges in 24 hours.

Children aged 3 years and over should not take more than 6 lozenges in 24 hours.

If symptoms persist for more than five days, consult your doctor. Lozenges for oral use only.

Warnings

Do not use Tyrozets for longer than 5 consecutive days.

Not suitable for children under 3 years old.

Consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking Tyrozets if you have an underlying medical condition, are taking any other medication or complementary therapy, or if symptoms persist.

Seek advice before using if you are breast feeding, pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or suffer from allergies.

Keep all medicines out of the reach of children.

Side Effects

These are some of the most common side effects associated with Tyrozets. If yiu experience any of these side effects, stop taking the medication and speak to your doctor or pharmacist.

Blackness or soreness of the tongue may occur, but usually disappears when therapy is stopped.
Skin rashes have been reported to occur after benzocaine administration.
Methaemoglobinaemia has been reported to occur rarely in infants and children after benzocaine absorption.
