What symptoms or conditions can be treated with Dioralyte?
Dioralyte is used to address dehydration caused by acute diarrhoea, vomiting, or excessive sweating. It may also benefit individuals experiencing fluid loss due to heat exhaustion, intense physical activity, or illnesses that lead to increased fluid loss.
What are the benefits of using Dioralyte?
The primary benefits include rapid rehydration, restoration of electrolyte balance, and quicker recovery from dehydration-related symptoms. The balanced formula of Dioralyte helps replenish essential salts and glucose more effectively than water alone, potentially shortening the duration and severity of diarrhoea.
How does Dioralyte work?
Dioralyte provides a precisely balanced mix of glucose and electrolytes that promotes efficient water absorption in the intestines. Glucose aids the uptake of sodium and water, while the electrolytes help restore the body's fluid balance, enabling faster and more effective rehydration than water alone.
Is Dioralyte suitable for all ages?
Dioralyte is generally suitable for adults, children, and infants over 3 months old. However, it is advisable to consult a healthcare professional before giving Dioralyte to infants under 2 years, especially if they are experiencing severe diarrhoea or vomiting.
Can I use Dioralyte to prevent dehydration?
Although Dioralyte is primarily intended for treating dehydration, it can also be used preventatively in situations where fluid loss is expected, such as before intense physical activity or during travel to hot climates. However, it is not designed for regular, daily use as a supplement.
