What symptoms or conditions can be treated with Dioralyte?
Dioralyte is designed to treat dehydration resulting from diarrhoea, vomiting, or excessive sweating. It’s also useful for managing fluid loss due to heat exhaustion, strenuous physical activity, or alcohol consumption.
What are the benefits of using Dioralyte?
Dioralyte’s primary advantage lies in its ability to swiftly replenish fluids and electrolytes, effectively preventing or treating dehydration. It offers more efficient restoration of the body’s electrolyte balance compared to water alone, helping to alleviate symptoms like fatigue and dizziness.
How does Dioralyte work?
Dioralyte combines glucose with electrolytes to facilitate rapid water absorption in the small intestine. The glucose enhances sodium and water uptake, while the electrolytes help restore the body's mineral balance, promoting effective rehydration and normal bodily functions.
Can Dioralyte be used for hangovers?
Dioralyte can be beneficial in managing hangovers. Since alcohol consumption can lead to dehydration, the electrolyte balance in Dioralyte helps replenish lost fluids and minerals, potentially easing hangover symptoms such as headaches and fatigue.
Is Dioralyte suitable for use during pregnancy?
Dioralyte is generally regarded as safe for use during pregnancy. However, it's recommended to consult a healthcare professional before use, especially if experiencing morning sickness or dehydration during pregnancy.
How long can I store Dioralyte once it's mixed?
After mixing with water, Dioralyte solution should ideally be consumed immediately. If refrigerated, it can be stored for up to 24 hours. Discard any unused solution after this period to ensure safety and effectiveness.

Usage and Instructions
Always read the label
- Prepare just before the medicine is going to be taken. Do not make it in advance. If you are giving it to a baby over the course of the day, you can keep the drink in a refrigerator for up to 24 hours
- Only dissolve the powder in water. Do not dissolve it in anything else
- Use fresh drinking water for adults and children over 1 year old. If fresh water is not available, use water which has been freshly boiled and cooled
- Always use water which has been freshly boiled and cooled for babies aged 3 months to 1 year.
When your medicine is fully dissolved, the drink will be a colourless solution. Use exactly 200 ml of water; more or less will affect its effectiveness and could upset your body's salt balance.
Dosage Instructions:
- If vomiting, take the medicine in small sips.
- Avoid eating during the early stages of diarrhoea.
- If diarrhoea lasts more than 24-48 hours, consult your doctor.
Dosages:
- Adults (including elderly): 1-2 sachets after each loose stool.
- Children: 1 sachet after each loose stool.
- Babies (under 2 years): Only use under a doctor’s guidance, with dosage based on the baby's weight. Stop bottle feeding or solid food if applicable, but continue breastfeeding.
If the baby is vomiting, give 5-10 ml (1-2 teaspoons) every 5 minutes, gradually increasing until normal drinking resumes.
Side Effects
Dioralyte is usually well-tolerated when used as directed. In rare instances, some individuals may experience nausea or vomiting. If any unusual symptoms or allergic reactions occur, discontinue use and consult a healthcare professional.
