Ingredients
Active ingredients: Xylometazoline Hydrochloride 0.05%
Ingredients: Sodium Chloride, Sodium Phosphate, Sodium Acid Phosphate, Disodium Edetate, Benzalkonium Chloride, Sorbitol, Hypromellose and Water.
Usage and Instructions
Suitable for adults and children 6 years and over
Dosage for children aged 6 - 12 years: 1 or 2 drops of solution in each nostril once or twice daily.
Not more than 2 doses should be given in any 24 hours and it should not be used for more than 5 days unless advised by the doctor, as it can cause the symptoms to worsen rather than improve, which is called the "rebound effect".

Warnings
Not to be used for more than 5 days without the advice of a doctor.
Parents or carers should seek medical attention if the child's condition worsens.
Not to be used in children under 6 years of age.
Warning: Do not exceed the stated dose. Do not take with any other cough and cold medicines
If your child is taking other medicines or is under a doctor's care consult your doctor before using Otrivine.
Expectant mothers should consult their doctor before using Otrivine for themselves.
Keep all medicines out of the reach and sight of children.
For reasons of hygiene do not use this bottle more than 28 days after first opening it.
Each Otrivine pack should be used by one person only to prevent any cross-infection.
Store below 25ºC. Protect from heat.
Do not use it after the expiry date given.
Side Effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
These may include:
Temporary burning, stinging, dryness in the nose, runny nose, and sneezing may occur.
If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
If any of the following symptoms occur, Otrivine should be stopped immediately:
- Hallucinations
- Restlessness
- Sleep disturbances
