Usage and Instructions
Apply the cream liberally to completely cover the whole of the affected area.
Apply to the affected area five times a day at approximately 4 hourly intervals for five days. See enclosed leaflet for further details.
If full healing has still not occurred after 10 days, or if your cold sore becomes very severe, consult your pharmacist.
Warnings
Always wash your hands after touching cold sores, or applying medication to them and avoid touching your eyes.
Women are advised to be especially careful when applying makeup.
Avoid kissing, especially children, when you have a cold sore.
Avoid sharing your eating and drinking utensils, or the same towel with other people.
Do not use if you are pregnant or are breast-feeding unless your doctor advises. Do not use in eyes, on genitals or in the mouth or nose,
Side Effects
It may cause temporary burning or stinging sensation. Flaking, itching, redness of the skin may occur in some patients.
Rarely can cause contact dermatitis after application of the cream (generally due to the components of the cream base rather than aciclovir).
