What are Cold Sores?

Cold sores are pesky, fluid-filled blisters that show up on or around your mouth. You may feel an itching or burning sensation before they appear. Though they can clear up on their own within 10 days, cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus, which can linger in your skin and cause reoccurrence.

Zovirax Cold Sore Cream: How Does it Work?

The active ingredient in Zovirax Cold Sore Cream is acyclovir, an antiviral agent that stops the virus from multiplying and spreading. It can start working from the first symptoms, keeping the cold sore under control and helping your skin heal.

What are common symptoms of cold sores?

Common symptoms of cold sores include:

• Small, fluid-filled blisters on or around the lips
• Tingling, itching or burning sensation before the blisters appear
• Painful or sensitive sores
• Swelling or redness around the sores
• Crusting over and formation of a scab after the blisters break

Aciclovir 5% w/w.

Use the pump to apply the cream liberally, completely covering the affected area.

Make an application five times a day at approximately 4 hourly intervals. Continue this for at least five days.

If your cold sore persists or worsens after 10 days, speak to your doctor or pharmacist.

Always wash your hands after touching cold sores, or applying medication to them and avoid touching your eyes.
