What is the active ingredient and how does it work?

The active ingredient in Movicol Ready to Take is Macrogol 3350, accompanied by Sodium Chloride, Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate, and Potassium Chloride. Macrogol 3350, a laxative, works by retaining water in the bowel, which softens the stools and facilitates comfortable bowel movements.

What symptoms or conditions can be treated with this product?

Movicol Ready to Take is a highly effective laxative formulated to alleviate constipation in adolescents, adults, and older individuals, excluding children under 12 years of age. This versatile solution eases bowel movements, even for those experiencing prolonged constipation, and also addresses severe constipation known as faecal impaction.

Each sachet contains: Magrocol 3350 (13.125g), Sodium Chloride (0.3508g), Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate (0.1786g), Potassium Chloride (0.0502g).

Also contains strawberry banana flavouring (including celery).

For Constipation: Adults, adolescents and elderly: Drink 1-3 sachets daily (depending on your response to Movicol), divided throughout according.

Extended use (roughly 2 weeks): up to 2 sachets per day.

This medicine can be taken any time of day with or without food.

For faecal impaction:

For faecal impaction, take eight sachets within six hours, but consult your doctor before starting treatment for this condition.

It is recommended to drink an extra 1.0 litre of fluid per day if you have severe constipation (called faecal impaction).

• This medicine is not recommended for children under 12 years of age.

• Keep out of sight and reach of children.

• Do not take if you have a blockage of the intestine, perforated gut wall, severe inflammatory bowel disease or are allergic to any of the listed ingredients.
